Evelyn Porter was a thin and short thirteen year-old, convinced her life was a living hell.
As an only child, she had grown up with the full attention of her parents. There was never a time they didn’t remind her how special she was—how she was the sole reason they bothered to get out of bed in the morning.
At school, though, she was anything but special.
She was an overlooked kid who lashed out at society with blue streaks in her curly black hair and unconventional clothes. She liked the bands most kids her age avoided, which didn't help.
She was trapped in a cage she kept herself in, and though she rattled the metal bars—she only ever managed to rattle them.
