The Heartbeat

My name is Juston Dement and I started writing when I was 14. My grandma was the one who actually got me into it. I remember us watching CSI Miami and I didn't like how Horatio always said a one liner and moved his glasses. She told me that if I didn't like it then I should write my own story, so I did. I'll be honest: my first few years of writing were terrible. I just tried to combine everything I grew up loving from TV shows to movies, books to video games. It was a horrid mess, but I kept trying. Eventually I found my voice. I found it in the pain that I've experienced. In the love that I've shared. In the loss I've had. We've all had seen the good and bad that this world has to offer and I know a lot of people have lost so much. When we hurt, it's easy to convince ourselves that we're alone. That no one knows what we go through. I just want you to know, whoever is here reading this, that you're not, and I hope that one of my stories reaches you in a way that you didn't think possible. You matter. If not to anyone else, you matter to me. Thank you for sticking around.
